Projects
The main line of research in our group is the integrative study of cancer from a genomics perspective.
In addition we are interested in the study or hereditary diseases, the evolution of the human genome and we participate in some international collaborative projects. A brief description of each line and main publications are provided next:
- IntOGen, Integrative OncoGenomics, is a project to integrate multidimensional OncoGenomics Data for the identification of genes and groups of genes (biological modules) involved in cancer development. [Blog posts on IntOGen]
- Condel, Consensus deleteriousness score of missense SNVs, is a method to integrate the outcome of various computational tools aimed at classifying missense mutations as likely deleterious or likely neutral. We have shown that the combination of various tools using a weighed average of the scores (WAS) improve significantly the result of the prediction. [Blog posts on Condel]
- Gitools, is a java application for analysis and visualization of genomic data. Data and results are represented as browsable heatmaps. Gitools allows to import data directly from IntOGen and Biomart. [Blog posts on Gitools]
- Wok, is a simple workflow management system implemented in Python that makes very easy to structure the workflows, parallelize their execution and monitor its progress.
- ICGC. We are part of the International Cancer Genome Consortium and the Spanish Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Consortium.
- Genomic Study of Cancer. We work on the study of properties and prediction of genes involved in cancer, as well as in the genomic analysis of transcriptional programs related to tumour development. [more information]
- Genomic Study of Hereditary Disease. The computational study of the group of genes involved in mendelian diseases reveals some molecular properties of this group of genes that help us understand better the molecular mechanism of disease mutations and that can be used for prediction of disease genes. [more information]
- Evolution of Genomes. Our group is also interested in the evolution of the human genome from different perspectives. [more information]
- Other Projects. We also participate in some international collaborative projects [more information]
